I never really liked the wood trim that came in my M45 so I decided to go out and redo it. I found this really nice vinyl by 3M. Its from their Architectural series and is made to look like dry carbon fiber. Now I know you are thinking fake carbon fiber vinyl is so ricey, and I would agree with you if this stuff did not look so good.

We are still working on a frame to put behind it to mount it to since when we cut out the backing of the ashtray it removed all the original mounting positions. Thats why it is just floating there, it will be fixed soon though.

Looks sweet! How sticky is it, as in, can you peel it off if you screw up? I've been thinking about ordering up a sample piece to take a look at it...

Looks Great Jade!
I have used this also for the T-Tops on my Z31. People really think it is dry carbon. This stuff is really amazing. Order a small roll, you wont be disappointed!

That actually looks great! (and I agree with you about the wood - Infiniti did it wrong on this model).

The stuff is super easy to work with. If you screw up you can pull it off and most of the time just apply some heat and the sheet is even totally reusable. I have never worked with vinyl so easy to mold. Hit it with the heat gun and it turns almost liquid and can be wrapped around "almost" any shape. I say almost because I go ballsy and tried to do the shift knob, too rounded and small to get it wrapped without the vinyl tearing.

I might add its pretty durable.
Ive had it on the battery cover of my Blackberry Curve for awhile and it shows NO wear at all yet.
And I use the heck out of it at work.
And it resides in my back pocket when not it use.
Thanks for the link Jade.
Laptop will be next. :)

Wow this looks super clean. 10x better than any overlay I've seen in the past.
