Leaving Friday afternoon. Looking for either canyony roads (nothing too crazy, taking the Sentra w/ all seasons, hehe), or nice scenery, something touristy to do.

Basically, anything that will give me a little detour from the 500 drag strip known as the 5.

THANKS FOR THE INPUT!

Take 101 to 1 and follow it along the coast. You will have to detour before devils slide over to 101. Devils slide has roadway starting to fall into the ocean. Then cut across either at 80 or go beyond SF and take 37 east to 80. Just before fairfield take hwy 12 toward lodi. Continue through lodi to highway 88 and take that toward tahoe. Very scenic and curvy but quite an addition in time to the trip.

So devil's slide is closed? haha.

Yea, I was thinking of taking the 101 & 1 along the coast, and stopping by slovang and herst or something.

I have much more time on the way back from up north, so possibly on Sunday/Monday I will head down the 1 back to LA.

Leaving LA on Friday around 1pm or so, and hopefully get to Tahoe b4 midnite, so 5 probably is key going up .

I'll be going straight to tahoe from LA, then back to SF most likely. I will definately check out the 12->lodi->88.... exploring googlemaps rite now, hahahaha.

Know of any neat pitstops/refueling stops on the way?

Hmm not off the top of my head. Try looking up some of the historical stuff in the donner summit area. There is some cool places along that route. But that is on 80. Be sure to have some chains with you. There might be some snow over the pass to tahoe. Make sure you take 50 across to tahoe. 80 will put you in reno. Then you would have to drive the 40 or so miles south to tahoe on 395.

BTW I am not far from sacramento which is were you would make the transition from north to east bound. Actually closer to lodi.

Thanks for all the pointers! . Yea, I'm borrowing snow chains from a friend just in case.

Trip there will most likely be straight up driving unless there was something like a quick half hour stop along the way.

Thinking of this for return trip based on browsing AAA stuff, haha (depending on when I leave):

Sunday Afternoon/EveningDown the 1Stop @ Big Sur for the nite, enjoy it there.

Monday Morningleave, cut over to the 101Stop by Firestone Vineyard for some Wine Tasting/tours by afternoonhead home

That takes care of snowboarding, some curvy roads, and a lil relaxing nature/wine experience

Not doing a terribly lot of stuff, but you're not suppose to do too much during vacation rite? hehehe.

This trip is pretty haphazard and not so greatly planned, main reason was really tahoe.

I'll be up in the area again during the coming months, so I'll definately be hittin u up for some norcal car meet action when I can bring the 240, haha. This trip, I'm driving the lil lady, and she doesn't like me visiting ppl she doesn't know, haha.
