Hey all, I wanted to reach out and see if anyone has had a similar problem or may have a resolution...
So brief background, last night we had a lot of rain up in Boston. I was driving through town and came across this puddle that had accumulated in a dip within the road. I'm aware of the potential damage that large puddles can do to a car and was nervous. However, this was a one way street with nowhere to turn around or back up (side rant: Boston hasn't been changed since it was made for horses in the f'ing 1800s). So I watch a few cars drive through this puddle fine and then I take it slow through it. Well immediately my leg gets splashed with water on the driver's side only (ohh great!) but now my interior has become extremely loud. While driving I can hear noise from my engine coming from the area near the pedals. The engine sounds fine and normal I can just hear everything now from within the car with all of the windows closed.
I'm assuming something around the firewall must have been knocked out of place? I stuck my head underneath the drivers side beneath the pedals and could not judge if anything was amiss. Would anyone happen to know if there is some type of sound barrier or what prevents you from hearing the sounds of the engine while in the car? I apologize if this doesn't make sense, its not the easiest to explain. Before I bring this in I wanted to get some insight if this could be an easy fix or not. Any insight is much appreciated. Thanks!
