Took my 06 M35 for service and they offer me an 09 G35 4 door to drive around for the weekend.all i can is WOW, this car is FAST!!!

The torque and speed on this car pushes me into my seat... (this is a base model)

now back in my M and my car is definitely slower, no pick up and no zoom zoom

Are you sure it wasn't a G37?

Even if it wasn't the new G37, the newer 08' & up G35 sedan is faster none the less.It is fast, but also take into account that it is lighter and has more performance in mind than the M's were built on. The M's were given the cutting edge of performance and luxury in mind, not just performance. It's a different kind of car all together. If I had my choice I would own both.

the M45 vs the G37 Coupe .... yes, the G is certainly built for performance where as the M was built for luxury and performance. I drive both about 80 / 20 M to G.

The G37 puts a bigger grin on my face than driving the M as far as acceleration goes WOT. The stock exhaust note isn't as tingling as the VQ35, but still sexy. The steering feels heavy in the corners coupled with heavy understeer kinda scares me sometimes....

yeh, I got one the other day from my dealer as a loaner, and wowow it is much faster than our M. Going back to the M, you can feel how much heavier it weighs compared to the G. But yeh, my neck still hurts from the torque.

I drove the 08 g35x loaner compared to my M35x. G was a bit faster..hmm.. maybe more. I even got it to tail spin a little while cornering which is kinda hard for the M. Definitely more powerful..

Take into consideration, G35 is a lot lighter too... But this car is small.. really small, my kids kept on telling me to move my seat... Also, ride is a bit harsher.. and it's got 17" tires.... compared to stock 18" for the M

The G35 and G37 are indeed similar (almost identical HP) to the M35, but in a lighter body (by a little bit).

Makes for fun driving for sure. FWIW, I still prefer the smoother application of the V-8 power in my M45.

But, I would be perfectly happy with an M35 and the G35 too!

I'd agree that the G feels quick. My wife liked the driving characteristics but hated the noisy cabin. She drove the new EX35 and game over. It now shares space in the garage with my M45. I've driven it (its just the RWD model) and it's almost a quick as the base G... but better interior finish and much quieter to boot.

agreed. we have a loaner 08 or 09 G35 sedan at the moment, and it is definitely a quick car. the brakes and gas are a bit touchy though and like others have said, the cabin is noisy! if i were looking for a car in the base luxury segment... i would look elsewhere for comfort, a smoother ride, less noise in the cabin.

but man is it fun turning off that VDC!

The G35 is a kick in the pants fun to drive., but is very sensitive on the gas pedal, I am glad the the 09 M35 got some much needed HP increase.
