Drove G37 today, wanted to get a feel before mine comes in. Although I had some big decisions to make these past 2 weeks from totaling my G35, and my company basically putting us on salary to chill, for a couple of months, and not making my normal cash flow.

So I wanted to check it out, to make sure i'm making the right decision. And I think I am.

The dealer was completely cool. He let me dump the clutch off the line, and get it loose. It was soo much fun to drive in the rain today.

The transmission on the 6mt is great. Clutch feels fine, real soft. Short throw still and smooth. I also drove the automatic and the paddle shifters were nice.

Brakes were great too. In the rain they had no problems on the freeway or road.

The seats on the inside are amazing. They are still a little like the old ones, except the hug you better and the stiching just looks beautiful. Also the thigh support and the automatic parallel supports are amazing. The one thing that really sold it for me was the steering wheel. I don't know what it is about that one, but to me it completely out does the old one. Handling was great. Still get good feed back from the road.

I love the active traffic display, and the nav is beautiful. Sound system was great too.

I didn't want to make this a long post/report unless I was going to make it detailed and good so i'll stop there. But there are many many things I go could go on about why this car is much better than the G35 to me.

I thought when I saw it in person I wasn't going to like the exterior that much, but I was wrong on that part also. It grew on me the instant I saw it.

Still old lessons do apply, the rear has little room. Although you do have to fight it to get some oversteer out of it. It really wants to understeer on you first. Obviously for safety reasons.

All in all, a great car. My dealer said about 47-48k out the door with my options. Black/Black Nav, Premium, Sport, (Journey) no spoiler, no 4WAS.Does this sound correct? Also, how much is a spoiler to add?

Thanks for listening. I'd be happy to answer any questions.

Don't know where your dealer is getting his figures and why can't he give you a firm msrp? Anyway a G37 Journey with just those options has a msrp of $42,965. your dealer has some voodoo economic thing going on. Go to edmunds.com and price it for yourself. The spoiler is a $550 option but that price may only be good from the factory.

I agree with that. Do not let any salesman force you to pay for a mark up. I remember talking with a salesman and he first said $3k above MSRP and then I said.. "Hmmm... I think I'll have to pass." and then he asked me what I was looking for and I replied with "Well... no more than $44,500 (which was just $125 above MSRP)" and then he had an epiphany and said that he just "might" be able to do that. lol Most people are getting them for MSRP or just a little lower than that.

Great post! Thanks for your input. I too am going from one G35 to the G37. I think it says great things about a car that people are willing to buy the same car again. Part of that decision for me was not only how well the new car drives but also how reliable my '03 has been and how solid and rattle free it is even now after 60K miles.

I agree with your comment about the looks of the car. I still think the original car is destined to be a classic - much like the original 240Z. The new body style is so different - and its lines keep you seeing something new each time you look at it.

My '08 black/black 6MT with premium, nav and spoiler will be here the end of this week.....can't wait.

So... Did your SA basically say yea.. we can do that for you? Or do you think your "Out the Door" price will be a little higher. I'm just trying to decide, because my SA has been through this whole experience with me. He knows how I'm not sure if I have the funds or not now for the car, and knows I really want it. So I guess when I go back i'll tell him what I want to spend and see if he can make it happen.

He makes it sound like he's doing me suuuuuch a biiig favor. Damn these guys.

When I hear "out the door" cost, I think of total including tax, motor vehicle fees, etc. Is this the case with your quote?

Thanks
