had to go to wisconsin for a funeral and my dad needed a way home since he flew up one way so me and my mom drove up there on oct 31, left at 5am and arrived at 1030pm, slightly over 1000 miles. i drove the whole way up, my dad drove most of the way back home but that was split into two days. i had never driven my parents current prius (2012 V) before that day, the seat is so uncomfortable and there's nowhere to put your left arm. the radio sucks but at least it has an aux input for my mp3 player, gotta use fm thingy in my FX which works great except when you start picking up stations and have to find a new channel.

the steering wheel is plastic and very slick, i kept wiping my hands on my pants to get grip but it didn't help. i guess i'm used to the wheel in my FX that has tons of grip even with sweaty hands. the gauge cluster in the center is just stupid and unnatural to look at, i think it's dangerous. i took turns way slower in that car than i normally would, skinny tires and not performance suspension were not confidence inspiring. the nav is kinda confusing, too. completely different from the navteq stuff.

car is totally gutless at speed, too. i went to pass an 18 wheeler in oklahoma and it took forever to overtake him, maybe he was speeding up but i was only doing 85 when i got in front of him. took at least 10 seconds to get up to that speed from 55 or 60, whatever we were doing behind him, which is below the speed limit.

offending vehicle, it was kinda cold in wisconsin.

my mom said we could take whichever vehicle i wanted and she'd pay for gas, i should've taken my FX, which certainly wouldn't have gotten 40mpg like the prius (prius doesn't get great mileage at 70+) but i didn't really want to drive the whole time. i'm not letting my dad drive my FX since his driving scares me, it's very hard to ride with him. I almost took mine just so i wouldn't have to ride with him driving.

saw this at the piggly wiggly, probably should have bought some just to try. the stuff next to it has ghost chilis. we did buy cheese curds, though.

No envy here. That sounds pretty horrible. I remember my roadtrip in Germany with a Nissan Micra and 3 people with stuff. Uphill it was fun to watch the MPGs(KPL?) drop.

Also Whoever decided hidden doorlocks were a good Idea can DIAF. My wifes car has them the Micra has a vertical door lock(lol wut?!)

Glad you survived to tell about it. :gapteeth:

MMMMM cheese curds.I was just back there about a month ago for my grandpa's funeral.I must have put on 10 pounds with all the fried food and beer I drank.I stuffed in as many cheese curds as I could since it had been 8+ years since i had been back there.

Co-worker has one (V as well), and I've ridden in it twice. Not impressive, but it's not trying to be. It does just what it's trying to do - basic transportation with 40-ish MPG economy. I'll most likely never own one. Glad your trip went safe.

LOL. I don't think Prius was designed to be a long distance highway cruiser. I;m sure that 1000 miles felt like 3000.
