Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew if the 18de in the pulsar used the same dropping resistor as the det? Of if I am going to have to try to buy one off of someone online. I already have an full harness, maf, ecu, and ignitor...so this is the last wiring piece I need...Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

The DET uses the dropping resistor because the DET injectors are low impedance.

The DE doesn't use a dropping resistor because the DE injectors are high impedance.

It's that simple :-)

I don't use a dropping resistor in my DET because I'm using high impedance RX7 nippon denso 550cc injectors. I'm using a Autronic anyway..so it doesn't matter. But for factory ECU..it matters a lot.

Cheers,Chris aka dattodude :-)

Chris is dead on, the DE injectors are high impedence. IIRC 1st Gen DSM's use a dropping resistor that works. Do some searching, it was posted up here a while ago.

Ohh, thanks guys. I did an search for dropping resistors and only came up with one thread that wasnt very helpful. I just typed in dropping resistor tho. If anyone can post more info about the part number of the dsm one and wether or not you have to wire it up differently or anything I would really appreciate it. Like I said, I did do an search but only came up with one thread on dropping resistors and it wasnt much help. I also checked the sticky threads...this would be an good thing to put in the crossover parts lists btw.

Thanks again in advanced.

hmmm...maybe my post got deleted. Anyways. I dont know why you said far right...to me the dropping resistor looks like the box attached to the black metal posts on the left. That and the only things on the far right are what looks like an cas and an jackstand. I cant figure out how to send an pm over nico so I will send you another email with an offer for the dropping resistor.

sam, you truly are one giant hill billy...lol

Read it again..it should read...

"Far left, right?"

as in "the dropping resistor is that silver regtantular block on the left side of the picture with five wired coming out of it. Correct or incorrect?"

i recently set my CA up with a DSM drop resistor....go look for a 1stgen DSM wiring diagram....follow the wires on which wire goes to which injector and for the CA harness do the same thing then just make em go together...yes it does work and i will make a write up on this later on

Yes, the de does have a dropping resistor. Not the ca18de but the ca16de use a dropping resistor.
