Does anyone know what would happen if anything if I drop down from 18" tires down 17" wheels and tires ? i have a 05 Maxima SE. I dont think i have any special traction control or anyting but Im not sure where to look.

I have seen Maxima's from my years running 17's, so im not sure

It shouldn't cause any problems. The SL max came with 17s anyway. As long as you use the right tires, you won't even see a change in outside diameter so your speedo will still read accurately.

You can tell if you have TCS by looking at the buttons next to the steering wheel. If you have traction control, there'll be a TCS button next to the steering wheel heater button. If you don't have it, there'll just be a blank filler there.

Thanks Doom.....

If i lived in warm weather that didnt get snow, I woould probably stick with 18's. Last winter was the first with my Max and with the 18's and very little clearance in the wheel well, snow got caked up big time and made my ride miserable

Also, the difference in $$ for 17's and 18's arent even close

Yeah, 18 inch tires cost twice what 17s do. 17s are worth it for that alone unless you're running rock hard rental tires.
