haha, that's "halfdropped" coupe...going in saturday to a new local motorsports shop...was talking to the guy today and hes talking about measuring the springs "load potential," blah blah blah to determine exactly how much drop the AC can tolerate prior to hitting the bump stops on the struts vs when the struts would need to be replaced, etc. Plus, that way we can also tell in advance of cutting the spring exactly how much drop we'll get from cutting a half coil vs. a full coil.
He also had some good insights on roll and camer/caster issues, and how everyting is affected by the drop, was pretty interesting.
Gonna be interesting to see what he comes up with. He suggested cutting springs from a four cylinder (2.5) cause he thought they might be softer, yet when cut (probably one full coil), they will then be equal to the stiffness of the regular 3.5 springs uncut, but 1.2 to 1.5 inches shorter. Of course, dont know if the 2.5 front springs will fit the 3.5, may have to order them both and see. If this works, I have the same exact ride, but the front is dropped.
THe question is, with the front suspension of the AC, how much can it be dropped and keep the shocks/struts stock. It would be a hella lot easier just to get the Eibach or Teins, but it wouldnt be this much fun, and the ride wouldnt be as much to my particular specs, goals and hearts desire.
Im also going to put the redline synthetic transmission fluid in this Saturday to hopefully smooth out the 6 MT notchiness a bit...I'll give a report on that after I see how well it works.
