Yup, it's finally in :) :D :)

Started today at about 11:30AM, and had to cut it short at about 2PM because it was starting to rain a little bit. Anyway, it went in pretty uneventfully, cleaning the gear oil off of my car because I forgot to drain the transmission beforehand was pretty fun. I must say though, the hardest part about physically dropping the engine in is the motor mounts. Unless you have it held perfectly in the center on the hoist, it's not going in all at once. Getting the mount bolt in wasn't too hard, but getting it into the guide was. We had to set one side down, then shove the other side into the guide, tighten it down, then raise it back up and guide the other side in, then tighten them both down. That was time consuming, but not too hard. For the most part though, the physical aspect of the swap is pretty easy, I was actually expecting it to be a lot more painful.

Unfortunately, we couldn't get far today because of the rain, but the engine and transmission mounts are done, as well as the crossmember. I'm going to try to do some of the peripheral work tomorrow, and next weekend it's going to Waynes for the wiring. Anyway, here are some pics from today, any questions, feel free to ask.

Pretty easy? I've never so much as swapped a wheel. Honestly, this was cake. Changing the fuel filter on my Accord was more difficult. However, having my friends dad there to tell us what to do made things a lot easier.

EDIT: Oh and for good luck, I snapped a pic on the way to my friends house today at about 11AM. hehehe

Yeah congrats! SO basically all you did is take the old engine out and swap the new engine in? I am thinking of having a friend of ours that owns a shop do that for us. (he'll only charge 300.00), AND then taking it to Secret Services to get the wiring done and misc. install work done, tuning, etc.

What do u guys think? Won't this save me some money?

Sorry I dont know ANYTHING about wiring cars. I've never even changed my own oil. Although I did install my own strut bar and intake lol.

that180guy, I doubt that I'm going to your meet, even though I would love to. I live in SoCal, you're probably at least 6 hours from me. Anyway, it should be running next weekend, barring any unforeseen problems.

So how does the clearance look between steering shaft and heat shield (you left it on right)?

Did you remove the AIR pipe that goes into the Turbo outlet pipe?I just re-configured mine to go around the back of the turbo, then out over the top. I'll be dropping the motor in sometime this week, so right now I don't know it it will clear or not.

Mine steering column cleared the shields fine, but that was when we first dropped it in. Once the springs get broken in and get used to having all that weight in the bay again, it might come close, but i'm hoping not. And yeah, I removed the AIV system.

The lower/side heat shield wont come into contact with the steering column but the thought or theory is that under cornering or when the engine torques the metal could hit and stop the column from turning. If it gets locked under cornering you may have a problem. Just remove them as they are nonessential.

Well im not sure of the exact specs on how much the engine will torque but it is just a theory and the engine should move a little anyways. I first saw it mentioned in the SCC install. But if you ever have to take the turbo off the car then you'll never put the heat shields on again most likely (or you can be like me and forget, meh).

BuudWeizErr, looks good man. Let me know if you go to any of the local meets and I'll try and make it. By the way, Phase2 finished up my s14 SR swap. It is quick. :D
