i'm putting in a set of eibach sportline springs and gr-2 shocks. i've seen other s13's with them on and i didn't realy like the stance. could i cut a coil out to drop it more in the front? would it be too low? if any of u here have done this send pics. also shifting in my car feels like ****. do all of these(s13) get like this? i'm getting a b&m shifter. but i think it might be beyond that. maybe dead synchros or transmission is screwed. maybe a dead clutch cylinder. i have to jam the gears in and they grind a lot. this is seriously pissing me off. any info will be appreciated.

well first of all DONT CUT SPRINGS, whatever you do. second, sportlines will blow out those gr2's rather quickly, the gr2 is just a stock replacement basically. how old is your clutch??

the clutch was supposedly changed with a dual friction. i think clutch masters. could be bull****. but it never slips.

Your transmission is probably asking (painfully) for a change of transmission fluid. I recommend Amsoil or Redline 75w140NS, not much you can do after that besides a rebuild.

Sportlines are crappy springs anyway and will blow the GR2's in no time flat, if you still have your stock setup, put that back on, and in the meantime sell the gr2's/sportlines on ebay, and get yourself some well-made coilovers, that way you'll have more ride height adjustability

i used to rock koni yellow's and eibach pro kit... its possible my shocks blew out, but the car handled like garbage... i mean, still nice, but leaned and rolled like mad... i got coilovers, 7/5 spring rates, they are amazing

i meant that they are far from the best springs when it comes to great handling. but they are decent for a small drop and an autox here or there.

but yeah, you messed up when you bought the GR2/sportline combo. If i were you i would try to sell them both and start over.

well i finally got the **** installed. i had to cut a coil and a half from the front just to get it even(24.75in.) at the fenders. the front was too high. i thought it was going to be a bit bouncy but it's not, at all. next up, sport max 18x8.5-9.5's. i'll post pix soon. thanks for the advice.

This is not good.

And you don't need 18 inch wheels and you really don't need 20+ pound wheels no matter what size they are. If you want 18's be my guest but you probably don't want to pay what it would cost to get a decent set.

they cost an astronomical $550 shipped. for staggered wheels, u can't beat that with a stick. when ever i "need" to go out and race or drift, i'll put my stocks back on. plus i already went to a shop and weighed one. and its not that much heavier than most 18's. unless of course ur talking about volks, or bbs. which i would love to get instead. but i'm short about 3 grand.

you know - i'm not that impressed with the amsoil vs the redline - I would say a nice md40 from the redline would be nice - or at least better then the amsoil - i have alsways thought the amsoil was better for american cars.

Yop, I'm talking about Volks and the like. You can get used SSRs, BBS, and Volk wheels under a $1000. There's thread a little ways down asking about used wheel shops. It'll be hard to find the sizes you want but some of the smaller wheels would look really good on your car. I wouldn't buy them new though.

The reason the Sportmaxxs don't wiegh a terrible amount more than most 18s is because most 18s are to heavy to begin with. You don't need staggard wheels either. I wouldn't spend my money on the Sportmax wheels if I were you. Should you get into any form of racing you'll start lusting after some nice wheels and probably end up spending another 500 on some Fn-0-1rcs, or K1's or, something. It's my opinion you should just do it right the first time.

lol, as you can tell, many of us around here are much more concerned with function than form. It's nothing personal and if sick looking wheels are what you consider doing it right then go for it.

got my k1s for $460 shipped from tire rack

16 x 7.5 weighs like 12 pounds, not bad considering like ce28s and the like weigh about 9 lbs in the same size

another option is team dynamics, but they take a long time...as sky found out it can be a little too long

other than that used wheels are the best option really

i would love to get some old ssr or bbs to give the car an oldskool jap look. but people outhere are being rapists and charging like a grand for a set of 16's. i'm pretty poor plus i'm setting this car up for street pounding not track use or anything like that. maybe the ocassional drift event but only p/lot with cones type of thing. i'm not putting my daily driver up against a wall. pretty much just want to have about 300 hp, streetable suspension(i live in miami pothole and rut city), and for her to look good. hence the fat wheels.
