I currently have a drop-in air hog filter on my 03. But i was wondering if a jwt pop charger will make any difference. I've tried the search button and didn't turn up anything. What does everyone think?

drop in filters will give you 1-2 hp, the cones have a larger surface area and are worth 5 or 6 hp

Popchargers can be beneficial depending on your climate and driving conditions. Do you stay in a fairly year round cold climate? Does your driving mainly consist of stop and go or is it mostly highway miles?

Larger surface area has no relevance if there is a high level of heat soak. Even if the cone is bigger the MAF regulates intake and flow. For the 03'-05's the Popcharger was popular because of the design of the velocity stack rings. In the 06' model, the box was redesigned for better flow and includes the velocity ring already. Stay away from aluminum piping for ram intakes and CAI's. Aluminum absorbs heat fast and retains the temperature, resulting in hot air for your engine.....not good. Same thing with the popcharger. It retains a lot of heat despite the heat sheild. The plastic box on the other hand holds the cold air a lot better and shields most of the heat soak. If you stay in a year round cold climate, the popcharger would be good. If not, my best bet for you is to swap out your box for an 06' and do a drop in K&N filter. You get the same results as a popcharger would do in a controlled atmosphere when you DD your car.
