I put some 1" drop blocks on my 720 last weekend. Ever since then I have had a weird thumping noise.

Anyone else have this issue? It almost sounds like tank slap but its not. Does it in all gears, especially under hard load. Like shifting hard from second to third or third-fourth. You can hear and feel a 'thump' from the rear end. Im pretty sure I tightened everything down as tight as it would go.

Also, ever since i lowered it, it feels like the rear wheels are stuttering. Almost like the rear end is locking up or the brakes are being applied hard and then release. Its like putting a 4x4 in gear on drive pavement, it lurches or grabs but it only does it in first gear.

Im leaning towards a ujoint (more like praying lol) but curious if anyone else has had this issue. I wont get to look at it until tomorrow.

I think you need to get under there and figure it out. that sounds horrible. Could your strut just be doing nothing?

Can we get a pic of the current setup at all? just curious to see it myself. both a nice shot to show stance and maybe a couple of actual block position.

This is current stance. I'll snap some pictures when I get it on the lift tomorrow. Current setup is block in between leaf springs and bracket. Simple block setup to lower the rear of a leaf spring truck.

LH and RH.

Noticed that my right rear tire didnt move when i moved the left rear tire. I went to that side and it just would turn. Busted the drum off and everything moved freely. I went to brush the shoes off and the damn linings fell right off on one side. I also noticed that my center support bearing is non existent. I think the prop shaft is slapping under the truck in first gear (most torque) and the rear shoes are grabbing bc they are rusted all up.

I was going to put new shoes on but they didnt have the hardware and I knew I was going to break everything taking it off. Ive put 1k bucks in Ethol the past two months so I need the wallet to fill back up before tackling the shoes and center support bearing. Hopefully next month I can get it all buttoned up.

The blocks were tight so that ruled it out.

Replaced the shoes and hardware, drained the rear end, but I still have the same issue.

Broke both emergency brake cables when setting the parking brake after doing the shoes. How you might ask? I have no effin idea.

Center support bearing should be here Monday, will repost if that hashes out my issue.

Havent put the center support in yet.

The rear shoes arent sticking, the brake cable is broken behind the shoes and I havent had time to mess with it.

My Altima has been failing me lately so its been getting my full attentin. PS pump went out then had a leak so I had to do the whole job again. Now its leaking oil around the distributor. FML.

^^^^^another post in another forum I guess. :rotfl

Ill post up once I figure this out. Sorry its taking so long.

Good luck. I've already replaced the carrier bearing about 4 times.
