my 1999.5 Pathfinder has a problem with the daytime running lights. sometimes they work just fine, but now more and more instead of low power on the high beam, it switches over to the full high beam on the drivers side. lights work normal with the switch when turned on and high beams work properly.
my question is: is this a ground problem? Has anyone else had this problem, or have any likely solutions?
thanks in advance.

Swap the DRL module and see if the problem moves to the other side. If it does, obtain a replacement DRL module at the junkyard. The DRL module is the beige box next to the battery in this picture:

thank you for the reply and the Welcome!!
your photo will not load up, but I am familiar as to where the module is located. I note that it has been replaced before and maybe it is not a good one! So I will try locating a new or good used one and give it a try.
thanks again for the reply.

I presume you're in Canada, if you have DRL's. I needed to replace my module last year, and the dealer price was $278.00 CDN.
They also have a no return policy (all electronics are non returnable), so if it turns out that you have another problem, you still own the DRL module.
I went to the junkyard instead, and picked one up for $25.00. Still works fine.

sorry for a very late reply on this DRL. I took the Pathfinder off road for summer and just got it back on the road. I had the same problem so this time I did some more research and found that I could repair the DRL module possibly. I took it apart and with a soldering iron fixed the spots (2) that were the problem, put it back together (goop and snap tie) and it works great!
I would have gone to the wrecker if this did not work, but happily it did work.
so it is worth a try to fix and it is very easy to do!!
This is such a great site and so many knowledgeable people that are so willing to help others!!
