Ok here's what I now know
Black=GroundRed=Battery 12V+White=Low Beam (+?)Orange=High Beam (+?)Yellow=Parking Light (+?)Green="wrap around spark plug wire"
First observation is that you won't find a spark plug wire to wrap this around. It's obviously an ignition sense wire so you will need to see of the manual offers another option. Maybe a tach lead that can be tapped into at the TCU or ECU easily. You need to find out if that's an option.
Next can you verify that the all the light output wires are positive (+)? I've seen some aftermarket products are use negative (-).
I wouldn't disconnect the OEM module as I don't think it's necessary. If you do you will almost certainly get some error messages and depending on how you decide to wire it the lights won't work at all.
Ok, now before I dive into the FSM and spend an hour working up a wiring procedure for you...what's your skill level? I don't want to spend the time working this up only for it to go way over your head.
Let me elaborate. The Q45's headlamp system is switched by a negative (-) signal from the headlight switch in the column. The parking light wire and the headlight wire at the switch are negative. They lead to the headlamp relay unit where it is switched to positive(+). If you tap in after the relay unit you will need to split your DRL systems outputs with relays as the left and right headlights have their own separate circuits. If you tap in before the relay unit you will still have to use relays to reverse the polarity of your DRL's output to negative(-).
If all of this is way over your head you might want to take it to a shop. How do you want to proceed?
