Hi everyone! I just bought a fully loaded '08 3.5SE. I bought it in Washington and imported it up here to Vancouver BC. Saved at least 8 grand. Only one issue before I can register it, I have to get daytime running lights working.

I'd like to hookup my fog lights as my DRL's but I need to know how the fog light relay is wired so I can run some power into it. Does anyone have experience doing this with a coupe or can get me started?

Hi Overrider,

This is my first post here, but I've been lurking for a good few months now as can be seen from my registration date. I can't resist helping a fellow vancouverite out however Here's some information I got from someone in another forum about how to hook up DTR lights for the altima. I didn't make this information myself, nor have I ever done it so I can't really help, but it should give you a good idea about how it's done. It's a PDF file so you can get it from:

http://www.badongo.com/file/8571747

I think it's actually for a 07 altima, but it should be almost the same process, I'd imagine.

Btw, you did the exact same thing I want to do. I'm in Vancouver too, and looking to go down to Washington to get a 3.5SE AC (thanks to the huge redflagdeals thread on the subject). Do you mind if I ask you around how much it cost you and whether the Vancouver dealerships will honour the warranty?

I *really really* want this car and have been amassing information about it and things I want to get done to it (Add Avic-D3, rearview cam, sub, tints/headlight overlays, rims/tires) when I do get it!

Thanks for the replies! My coupe is Super Black on Charcoal leather. I got the premium package, tech package, floor mats, and kick plates for 2 grand under US MSRP. Not bad eh? Considering the car lists for 10 grand more than I paid for it in Canada, I think I'm coming out ahead.

Thank you very much for the DRL tutorial. It's a little vague but I already had some idea so that's great. I appreciate it.

I read through that entire Red Flag deals thread but a lot of the posts make it seem like it's a giant PITA. It is quite the opposite. The vehicle export offices on the border are closed (US side) on the weekend so I drove to Port Angeles to take the ferry back to Victoria, and then the ferry from there to Van. The US customs agents were awesome, I was in and out in 2 minutes. (I sent title front/back earlier in the week.) I got to Canada customs on the other side and they must be doing a ton of imports because they had me out of there in less than 5 minutes.

My coupe is currently sitting in my parking garage looking pretty while I wait on the RIV Form 2 so I can get it inspected and register it. As to the warranty, the guy I bought it from was chatting with me while I was waiting to get it detailed and he insists that most dealerships want to make the money from the warranty work so they'll honour the warranty. I wasn't very concerned though because I'm good friends with the owner of a Nissan dealership up here and he said he'd make sure I was covered. (but he still wouldn't save me 10 grand on a new one, lol)

Let me know if you have any Q's. I've done a ton of research on the import process.

Sounds like a good price! Cheaper than I thought it could be gotten for actually. I want to get a Dark Slate with the premium package, but not the tech since I want the Avic-D3 nav system (which is cheaper anyways). Probably be a few months until I can afford it tho lol, so I'm just stuck drooling at everyone's coupe here

:\ just to give you a heads up from my understanding to protect Dealerships in Canada, from what you just did Canadian Dealerships have the right to not honour your warranty. Is not just Nissan doing this its several different Car Companies. If its a used car its a different scenario.

From that article Honda will not, Nissan will not, Volkswagen will not either (from a friend who just bought a new Jetta).

Saving that 8 grand seems nice now but that warranty would be reassuring.

-edit- never mind I saw what you posted, lucky you, I wish I knew some one at a nissan/infiniti dealership.... :\

:-). Most dealerships will honour the warranty anyway. They won't be happy they didn't get you to rip you off to the tune of 10 grand, but Nissan pays them well for warranty work, so they're not gonna kick you out on your ***.

IMO it's worth it to spring for the tech package. I'm absolutely in love with the integration. The cd changer plays mp3 cd's and are listed in folder style on the screen, the back up camera is a cool wow feature and the nav works really well. It's pricy, but having the screen work with all the buttons and bluetooth integrated is really nice.

Canadian law. Oh and as a side note, I got them hooked up today. Took me 10 seconds and the cost of a 5 cm wire. Lol!

Am I correct to assume that you got a 6 cyl CVT, Overrider?I bought mine with $4000 off the top ( manufacturers rebate) plus an installed spoiler and tint to sweeten the deal for me. I was weeks away from going car shopping in Washington. If I planned on doing a lot of traveling I would have wanted the navigation but as a local boy I opted out of that. I probably spent about $2000 more here, but I figure the peace of mind was worth it for me.

Man even without the warranty. The price discrepancy is worth telling the Canadian dealer to go $#%# themselves. Buy an extended warranty if it really is a necessity for you. These dealers will never learn until they start losing business.
