Anyone know if it's possible to wire the front #3157 turn signal bulbs to stay on permanently? I'm wondering if it would be possible to do that and install white switchback LEDs (that change to amber with the signals on) to function as daytime running lights. This would be for a 2012 coupe.

If anyone has done this or has any thoughts on how it would look that'd be great, too. Another post here had a picture of the switchbacks installed, but no discussion of rewiring them to work as DRLs: http://imageshack.us/a/img13/6779/img1600a.jpg

Suggestions on other DRL setups are welcome as well. I'd prefer not to do anything that involves opening the headlight assembly (not skilled enough to risk it :)). I don't think Mercedes-style strips below the grille would look too great either since my car already has fog lights down there.

I'm pretty sure they already are on permanently. Just replace it with a switchback LED and you'll be good to go.

Nope, I just double checked and they're not on unless the headlights are (when set to auto).

? Can't you just turn on the parking lights and then they're on?

why would you want them to stay on? we're not hondas lol. I think they're ugly, I switched mine to LEDs that work only when I'm using the turn signal. They don't work when I have my low/high beams on.

Lol I did exactly the opposite, I made it so that like Sano, they only work when the turn signal is on (I just snipped one of the wires). But I guess if you really want, you could take the wire that keeps them on with the headlights and splice into a wire that turns on with the ignition. Dunno how that plays out with the switchback though

Yeah, I honestly have no idea whether it'll look stupid or not. Not sure how it'd make my car look like a Honda, but if it ends up being ricey I'd just leave the lights as they are now.

I guess I could just use the parking lights for now to test how it looks and then decide whether I want them to stay on or not (though it sounds like it won't be simple to get them to do with it the headlights on auto). Thanks for the suggestions.

Could we just cut the wire lead that turns them on with the parking lights?? I would love to just have them turn on with signal.

You don't need to mess with the wires. There's a specific LED that does that. I have had it since I bought the car. I'll try to get the exact number

That would be great because I don't like the amber glow and I don't like the bright white switchback glow either. I just want nothing until the turn signals are shown.

You can just cut it, but what he said sounds like a better option lol
