If any of you are interested, the Audi Car Club has several openings at their 2-day hi-performance driving school at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) Alton VA on 12/7-8 Sat-Sun. Owning an Audi is not required. It's reasonably priced ($260 + $40 membership includes dinner and an event shirt I believe), and you get to use your own car. Your car must pass a basic tech inspection, no rollcages or special mods are needed. If you maintain your car well, you should have no problem passing. If you don't have an approved crash helmet, they'll rent you one inexpensively. Lots of nice folks in lotsa different cars both stock and modified come to these events- Audi's, BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, Subaru, Corvettes, Eclipses, and yes, even a stock 89 240sx on all-season radials (me). If you want to improve your skills and see what your car can really do (instead of doing donuts in parking lots) on a 17 turn 3.75 mile road race course, I'll be happy to pass on the links. (I have no financial interest in it, I go to these events because they're so much fun) VIR has been described as a smooth one way country road with no cops. Any questions let me know.

For Audi car club info:

http://www.audicarclubna.org

click onto the "local chapter" tab, then click on the chapter nearest you. I belong to the Potomac Chapter, click on their picture. Potomac hosts track events at mostly Summit Point and VIR. (The Northeast chapter uses Watkins Glen, Lime Rock, New Hampshire and Mont Tremblanc). Once you become an audi member ($40), you can attend any of their track events regardless of the chapter you belong to. It's great fun. Potomac is a fun group of people.

The December VIR event is now full but you can still get on their waiting list if you're interested. There are usually cancellations. I'll be instructing at this event in my old '89 240sx.

For information about VIR, go to http://www.virclub.com. Beautiful track, like a one way country road with no cops.
