I've tried searching for this to no avail.

Has anyone ever tried driving off without the fob in the car? I'm curious what would happen.

I searched the manual, but it didn't mention anything regarding this.

Well you can leave the car on and go at least 50ft from the car without it turning off I know that. SO I would assume the car would stay on? It does beep a lot though...

Ill try driving 100' without the key later today.

You will need it to start the car.

One day my pockets were full and my girl put the keys in her purse, she went into the store i was wondering why the car was beeping (when i first purchased it 18 months ago)..You can drive and it will beep intermittently...just do not stop the car..LOL.

It can go as far as you want it to or have to, as long as you dont stop it (turn it OFF that is) it will go with the beeping sound but wont cut OFF, it will not start with the keyfob out side the vehicle even when it on the hood or on top of the car is will not start, the vehicles have a sensor inside that only allow the car to start with keyfob inside ONLY.

I have a M35 and both my intelligent keys have been broken into pieces (don't ask) and I only have the actual key port. I was in a panic because I had no idea how to start the car; so I just shoved the key into the intelligent dock part and it started. I was able to drive it but it started to blink and said there was no key ID. The car will not turn off, but if you stop it won't turn back on. I tried to manure the key around so it would read, but it took some time for it to register. But it did work.

Does anyone know how much the intelligent key costs?

Or any object to push the brake pedal in, that is.

How did you break them into pieces?

The FOB cost about $100 per piece, but you need to have the dealer program it with the car and I am not sure how much the dealer will charge you for that - depends on the dealer.

After thinking about it, there's likely a reason why it won't shut off if the fob is out of range. 1) just in case you're driving and the fob battery dies or 2) just in case you or your child drops the fob out the window (don't ask me how this could happen, but anything's possible).

If it did shut off with the fob missing, it would be a safety hazard, imagine your car shutting off suddenly at 75mph, no power steering, no power brakes. Duh

I found an uncut fob on E-Bay for about $40 US and another $40 US to a Nissan Dealer to reprogram it and my other fob; both will need the program

Be sure the new fob has the same FCC numbers as your broken fob does. Apparently if they don't match you are out of luck.

And, also remember to take all fobs with you - apparently, they need to be programmed at the same time.
