It's not a kill story but hey it's driving realated....

Anyways so I'm driving with mom this morning and I get *****ed at the intire way to school. Forst off I'm stuck in this BIGA** GMC Saburban. It's not a god awful truck but it's huge. Worst thing about it it's slow and the front suspision needs replacing so it goes bouncy bouncy alot. Anyways leaving the nieghbor hood and it starts.....I'm a stop sign and get ready to get out on the road and what do I hear. "YOUR ROLLING THROUGH A STOP SIG YOU CAN GET A TICKET FOR THAT". I'm sittingthere like I'm getting ready to go how is that rolling. Then I get to a intersection turning through it and I hear "YOUR GOING TO FAST!" and I'm rolling through it at like 15. It's just goes on and on. The worset part is I take my test in like 3 weeks and few days. So I know she is just gonna make me drive more and more. But I hate it cause All she does is ***** and yell. I don't about you but it is awfly hard to pay attention when yor pissed cause the passenger wont stop yelling. Anyone else have this same experience or had a parent that you HATED to drive with but couldn't do anything about it ? Don't want it to sound like a *****ing post but I wanna know if anyone can give me some advice or share some stories of screaming, yelling, panicing or down right *****ing parents ?

i had this problem (not as bad) when i had my permit. mom would always tell me crap i was doing wrong. just sit there and shut up at all the small nit-picky crap, good God. so yea, i know your pain. they hardly ever ride with me now though, which is great.

yeah. when i first got my permit at 15, my mom made me run errands to the nearby shopping center by myself. she trusted me that much. but now a days, i'm 20yrs old, been driving for a while now, and when she comes with me in the 240---she'll make some comments; such as 'you passed that guy too close', or yell at me *after* i make a wrong turn when she didn't tell me to turn, or she'll comment on me driving too fast--when i'm only going 9mph over the limit-- (funny, cause when she's late for church she'll blaze thru the neigborhood at 45mph), or she'll complain when i don't turn on the a/c when it's 70 degrees outside. (i don't turn on my a/c till it's 90! and that's a MAYBE!)

bad thing i worry about is my 16yr old sister, and when my mom goes with her driving.

My dad was a pretty good teacher - He just kicked back and let me go at it - No ******ing, just smooth.

I didn't have the heart to tell him that I'd been driving the 1-ton dually's at work for over a year, and my boss had already taught me to drive stick in his modded '70 Cuda 440 AAR... :D

BTW - Kaioshin - I can get you hooked up with Eibachs for around $170.

Blackbob. You should keep in mind that this woman was changing your diapers, wiping your a** and helping you tie your shoelaces just a few short years ago.

What I mean is that as you get to be older time seems to go by quickly and 10-13 years feels like yesterday. It is still a relatively new experience for her to have to trust you with such a great responsibility and have no control over it.

She will come around but for now just cut her some slack because like it or not your mother has been driving a lot longer than you have and honestly, she is probably a much better driver than you are. You may not want to admit it but it's a fact.

You'll miss your parents when they're gone. Be kind to them and listen when they speak. They've been there, done that, only they did it when cars handled like barges, bias ply was all the rage, seatbelts were a novelty, street racing was just as big of a problem, and the back seat could easily accomodate two horny teenagers.

Sky make her ride along at the next event.... My mom never likes me driving while Im tired but for some reason all 8 auto-xs Ive gone to this season / end of last, I have not had more then 4 hrs sleep. I average about 2-2.5 hrs of sleep prior to it and generally drive 1.5 hrs to get their as well.

My last event I was up making a DSP engine brace till a bit after 6am. Laid down for 45 mins mabey got 15 mins of sleep, and went on my way. I came back later to tell her I placed first in my class :P , then proceeded to pass out.

Shes seen all my runs and knows I drive good, but hates little cars. So very very rarely (like mabey twice in the 3.5 yrs Ive owned the s14) does she ride with me...

Btw I learned in a mid 80's caravan at 15, then again in a villager about the age of 17. At 18 I got a 91fb learned some more and took my test in that :) My parents didnt want me to drive as I wasnt such a good juvinile, but they got me my first car at 18 and Ive been an s-chassis nut ever since. I also didnt really hear much while learning with them besides cutting the inside of left hand sweepers to tight, for their comfort.

one time i drove with my mom in the heavy rain with no windshield wipers in my 87 ford. That was the only time I didn't hear one word from her. I'm 25 and I still get "You better drive careful and you better not be speeding!" Well can't blame her for that.

When I was 22 my girlfriend's mom wanted to ride on the back of my GPZ750...She asked me "how fast does this thing go?... At 140mgh she was screaming "go faster"! Tell your mom to lighten up or I will come to your house and take for real ride...and... at the same time, be a safe driver and don't stack up the car...My son is 16...just got him a 240SX...never worry about him because he knows what his limits are...He made lots of little mistakes when he was learning...I hardly said a word...I just stopped him from making the dangerous mistakes...his mom was different story...always on his back...might be a mom thing...

umm...is your mother over 5'10" tall? do you live on a ranch? do you have 4+ siblings? do you own a huge trailer, boat, or the like? WHY OH WHY PLEASE TELL ME WHY YOUR MOTHER IS TEACHING YOU TO DRIVE IN A SUBURBAN? WHY? PUT THE KID IN A FREAKIN COROLLA FOR CHRISSAKE. AT LEAST LET THEM LEARN THAT THE WHOLE DANGER OF DRIVING IS THE SUBURBAN DRIVING LUNATIC MOTHERS!!! SURE, THEIR KIDS ARE A CLOSE SECOND, BUT COME ON!!

THIS COUNTRY IS GOING STRAIGHT TO HELL.

hehe my parents know I speed but Ive toned down alot and generally run a smooth 80 on the 70 mph interstate. Im 23 btw... If I go more then a month between auto-x's though I get more agressive then normal and my speeds increase by the day...

Funny thing I thought of was a cpl of years ago I was trailing a sc gprand prix on the interstate at about 115-120 for about 10 minutes. He pulled off and I resumed my speed of 80ish mph, when a gs (i think) eclipse we had passed comes up. I knotice there is only a small block of 5 cars in the left lane in a pack, doing the speed limit, and nothing for a cpl miles afterwards. He goes, and I jump on it. Im hitting about 120ish and blow by the pack of cars with the eclipse way behind. I shortly come up to my turn and think nothing about it.

Later on a white sports convertable MB pulls into the driveway. Im like wtf is this, and my dad steps out. He says " what you dont reccognise this car?" and I said " no, why?" then he yells out " you almost ran it off the ****ing road earlier today, I noticed it was you and jumped on it. I had to be doing 150mph and couldnt catch up to you, and you are damn lucky I didnt...."

DOH he was traveling on the same road at the same time as I was racing and was in that little pack of 5 cars.... This was 35 miles north from my house too...

Amen, SmithSR. You'll understand more about the difficult job your parents had raising you when you have your own children. My father taught me to drive with a Ferrari sitting in the garage just begging to be driven. Talk about incentive to learn to drive like a good citizen. That included not scaring my mother while driving. Plus I had a 1966 International Harvester Travelall in college (think Suburban with stiffer ride)I had a blast with that truck. From road trips to dates. Great truck. Don't diss trucks.

My dad is the biggest hypocrite... When it comes to me he will rag on my driving CONSTANTLY (despite my earning better scores on several motorcycle/car courses)But when he drives hel do the most random ****....Occasionaly throwing the car into a random turn at a insane speed and almost spining out, all the while keeping up a conversation. When asked why the **** did he just do that, he responds "oh that? i just wanted to countersteer" wtf!And word to racing to church, if we are running 5 mins late i pitty any poor soul on the road (i think this sunday we hit 65 in a 35 residential).

I rarely ever ride with my mom anymore, in any car, bacause even though she doesn't speed, she is a horrendous driver. Not only does she not know the size of her vehicle (the biggest conversion van Chevy makes), she'll come within a few inches of hitting curbs, and tailgates constantly. The number of times she's almost flipped are numerous. Even though I'm only 17, each and every time I drive with her, I come out with a few more grey hairs.

Doubt he was smilling, but dont doubt he went all out to get at me... Glad he didnt as right after that stretch of highway there is this super sweeper that merges into i-95 that I used to take at 90-95 mph....

The kicker is this was a week after him telling me his stories about 135+ runs in his friends roadrunner and others like it, when he was abouts my age.

I think parents(especially mothers) are all like that. My dad used to ***ch at me about the way I drove even though I would only go about 8 or 9 over the speed limit but that was back when I was about 16 or 17. My dad won't really say anything unless he knows that there's a cop sitting in the area, but my moms is a whole different story. Its the same **it everytime I get in the car, but hey what am I gonna do, she's my moms.

Damn some of you are lucky. I had to learn how to drive in a AT escort wagon. I didn't get to learn how to drive a stick until I drove an AE85 in Japan.
