hey everyone,

i have a bad injector resulting in a dead #4 cylinder. the car idles a little shakey and runs crappy. it runs and i can drive it but it just has very little power. thing is, i dont have time to fix it right away but i need to drive the car...for short distances, less than 15 miles. is it bad to drive it with a dead injector/cylinder or is it ok in the mean time?

also, im sure its the injector. i get 0 ohms and i tested the plug and wires and those were good. and when i drive it, i drive it like a boy scout (not hard, just "normal". sorry to the hardcore boy scout drivers out there).

thanks for the help,

eelekim

Don't do it. Fuel starvation may cause the motor to die and leave you stranded. I wouldn't trust a KA with a bad injector any farther than I could throw it...

Rent a car or bum a ride...

#4 is not that bad cuz it's close to the firewall. #1 is really bad. Anyway, I drove several days with a bad injector and it was okay. Your cylinder is moving without the fuel. Spark is there though. Just no fuel to burn.

i drove for some time w/ a dead injector in the first cyl on the ka... didnt really push it much but didnt do it anygood... i think the worst that came out of it was a front main seal oil leak... which is a pain in the ***

Possibly true. I've had different injectors fail on me 3 times. I think the time the engine died WAS from the #1 injector...

What I meant was #1 is really bad because engine shakes like crazy since it's located at the end. If one injector goes out, car will shake, but it shouldn't die.

Same here #1,2 & 3 went bad within a year and I replaced all of them myself. Most likely if one goes out, next one will follow sooner or later. I've been waiting for #4 to go out, but it's doing good.

To the OP, I have KA24DE injectors for sale, so let me know if you can't find one soon.

a dead injector shouldn't cause any damage to the engine. my brother drove a month with a bad injector and didn't have any issues with the engine. its like saving gas with a cylinder deactivation that new cars have. lol

why dont u just get another injector lol and then rent a car for a day? wouldnt this solve the whole problem? cost maybe 200 the most.. and it would save possible further problems down the road.
