I have been experiencing with new driving tactics. I have been taking it real easy on the accelerations. I have been coasting as far as I can to stops and lights.

I drive a lot of streets to. I have seen my mpg increase by at least 2 mpg or more on the streets. I filled up the other day with a little over 18 gallons and I had 350 miles on that. I probley could have gone another 50 easy before empty and my gas light was not even on yet.

Which makes me remember when I first got the Q 5 years ago I use to driver her hard fast accelerations and all what a difference.

Gas prices here in California. Last fill up was at a discounted COSTCO and it was $3.99 a gallon if it gets any worse here ouch!!

Depending on your current driving habits, it's normally pretty easy to gain 2-5 mpg just changing your driving technique. Keep it up, honestly, I don't do that with my Q currently but I do with my daily driver and I make it a challenge for myself to try and beat my best mpg. Almost as fun as trying to beat your 0-60 or 1/4 mile time! Seriously.

As for the Q...(check the MPG gauge)

yea because of gas prices i had quit my "smashing" addiction. Tires are also costly and thats another reason

Driving slow will let you sync in with the green light stream more often. Good cruise control.

Use the highway more often. Ultimately smoother than city streets and you can also "draft" behind other vehicles for that extra mpg (like in NASCAR but at a safe distance).

The sweet spot of my Q is 68-74MPH. Thats the fastest I can go if I wanna conserve fuel.

Also keep up with your oil changes, it makes all the difference. My Q "likes" its oil changed every 2500 miles for the best mileage. $20-30 an easy DIY.

I use Shell gas. COSTCO fuel sucks for V8s. But considering the discount available at Costco you still might save money for the cost per mile.

Don't get me wrong b/c I'm in favor of oil changes but if you are changing you oil every 2500K to save gas then you're losing a sh*tload of money on the deal-$20 every 2500K miles I would imagine.

You are however insuring that your engine lasts forever so that's good.

On a related note, you know how they've been speculating how much gas has to cost before we change our driving habits?

Well, it turns out that I don't really care. I used to be pissy about gas prices-especially when I read that gas cost about $1.75 when "W" was inaugurated and before he de-stabilized the entire Middle East.

But the truth is for me that I love machinery and especially cars and I waste all kinds of money on my cars anyways. For example, I just bought a Leatherique's leather rejuvenator and cleaner for really no reason as Lexol seems to work well but I thought "What the h*ll?" For the price of this stuff shipped I could have filled my tank with premium.

I recently changed my driving habits in the Q as well. I always use Shell V-Power and we all know that gets expensive. Well, I was spending between $480 and $500 a month on gas. I just could not do it any more. So, about three weeks ago I bought a 93 Sentra. 31 MPG, $40 to fill up, and I only drive the Q when me, my wife and daughter all go somewhere. I filled the Q up the day before I bought the Sentra and it still has a quarter tank.

i am looking for a small honda motor cycle to drive around for gas prices and drive the q when it rains or when im going to hang out with friends. pretty much just a good idea for those 28 mile trips across the county for a job. as for gas, im upset but noone else is pissed enough to do anything so i just plan on taking it easy on the stop lights but i cant resist some ******* in his cute little cavalier. youd be surprised how many people have no clue the Q is a v8. its not safe but i also have a habit of riding real close behind semis on the highway, increases gas mileage by 2-4 miles on long trips
