I believe it says in the owner's manual that you should not exceed 80km/h (50mph) while in 4H. I've gone above 80km/h while in 4H but you will only lose traction right? Also, can anything be damaged by going over the recommended speed in 4H?

not sure on the damaging part, but my better judgment tells me that if your using 4hi for whatever reason (snow, offroad) you probably shouldnt exceed 50mph in terms of safety.

i agree. if road conditions are that bad that you NEED to be in 4wd, then you probably shouldn't be doing 50mph.

The owner's manual says that do not do that speed in 2 position, and do not shift into 2 position when speed is over 50 mph. It does not says any speed limit in D position.

you make no sense.

regardless, this is a direct quote from the owner's manual:

Quote »The 4H position provides maximum power and traction. Avoid excessive speed, as it will cause loss of traction. Speed over 50 MPH (80km/h) in 4H is not recommend.[/quote]

You are right Alex. I found I was reading in a wrong section about the speed limit. Sorry about that.

well is it just not recommended in terms of safety or what? if it can screw up parts, obv then thats not good, but if they just mean safety id like to know if you can go more than 50.

Why would one ever need to go over 50mph in 4wd?

they just don't understand, KyooX4. lol

mechanically, there's really no issue in running 50mph+ in 4WD, assuming you have the same size tires front and rear.

why you would need to do 50mph in 4WD is beyond me.

I was asking because about a month ago there was a snow storm and I had to go on the highway so I put it in 4H and went around 80km/h. So I was just wondering if any damage could occur if I go above that.

nah, you're good to go. it shouldn't hurt to shift from 4H->2H at 80kph. just don't shift from 2H->4H, even with the electronic transfer case.

if you have the manual shift transfer case, then i would've just shifted from 4H to 2H, because you can shift out of 4WD at any speed.

milage will suffer slightly at highway speeds in 4H, however, we've got our best mileage to date in 4H. The trick is to avg 35-40mph for 8 hours. Engine is below 2500rpm and wind resistance isn't working against you.

i drove for over 60 miles going around the speeds of 60 and 70 mph in the 2wd but i had the switch in 4 wheel lock, is that what you did? but anyways its not bad bad but its not good either, i did that a couple months ago and everything seem to still be doing ok, knock on wood lol
