No let me refrase (cant spell) that.My hood had a dent on it and it would latch. But then it got worse and i dorve like past 100mph on highway,by the way thank god it happened when my friend was behind me.I pulled over turned into a street and we drove to his house. My hoods at his house right now.The hood needed to be replaced but you know how humans think maybe it'll be fine. And thats the results now i'll have to do both. The headers im still researching though for now until i find the right information and needed information. But really this sucked just happy it happened with no cars around and someone there.maxnix wrote:Ouch! You mean you were driving around without a secure hood latch?
And you are thinking about prototyping headers?
Might have to adjust your priorities just a little, don't you think?
Im in high school!!! And a new car i rather not have i chose a used over a new.qship96 wrote:Perfect time to ponder the future......sink more into it or just get a gas sipping newer honda/toyota that will need less mechanical attention and cash to get you to and from community college?????
You could always trade for a 96Q, they dont go fast enough to rip the hood from the hinges!

The previous owner replace the passenger and windshield i didn't.My firend said a real windshield isn't suppose to shatter like that.True?qship96 wrote:Oh well, you needed a new hood anyway!!! Needing a new windshield is a blessing in disguise....nothing like fresh new glass free of scratches, chips, and sand damage, it is quite breathtaking to experience your first drive after installing a brand new windshield!!!!

True now i know to replace evrything outside before i even drive it soon.elwesso wrote:well now we can learn from your mistakes, dont ignore a messed up hood or you might have....
My hoods been replaced ever since.$250 with the hindges $10 each.Where in antioch you located?Maybe we can check out why it won't shut?Well I wont be able to take my Q mines Under Construction engine is apart.CStalin wrote:that really sucks.. in november i bought my q45 in pleasant hill and it had a bad latch (somebody backed into the car) and i had to drive home with a rinky dink bungee cord holding the hood down. i drove all the way from pleasant hill to antioch with it, and i just got over the the bridge by wilbur ave on 160 and my hood flew up, but everything was ok, so i pushed it back down and went along, and then i went further down 160 and it did it again but it spiderwebbed my whole windsheild and i had to get my hood replaced. (not to mention it was raining like a mofo)
but i got my hood replaced and now the lines don't match up. theres pressure points on the hood. i don't know why it does that but i plan on getting it fixed...
but if you plan on fixing your hood yourself (as did i) make sure the hood shuts correctly before putting the struts in.
