A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

I've gotten a DET and am in the process of collecting the parts for swaping into a '87 Sentra. I would like to adapt a Maxima vlsd transaxle to a ca18 bellhousing, but i'm not sure how much fabrication (axles, hubs, etc.) would be needed. Or are there stock parts that can be used? Anybody have a clue?boost_boy? I remember seeing a thread somewhere where you stated you were using that setup. I'd apreciate any thoughts/advice.

Hopefully he can provide some insight, because I have no expertise with CA swaps.

Really dude boost_boy can help you best here on this. However let's make it simple if he chooses not to reply or fails to see this thread. You have a 1987-90 B12 & a FWD ca18det w/harness & TMIC or a non intercooled ca18det w/harness COMPLETE with ignitior chip and all other motor goodies assuming? So this is what you'll need to complete your swap? These are ALL USDM parts btw as I can recall this is from memory so forgive me if I leave out a part!

1) ca18de FWD transmission w/axles2) complete motor/transmission mount set3) ca18de USDM harness4) ca18de automatic radiator

because you have a 1987 it is carbureted so you'll need a external fuel pump or remove your gas tank and install a OEM fuel injected B12 or KN12 fuel tank and use OEM pump. You'll nedd a piggy to fab the wires for this because your OEM ca18de harness will only be a engine harness unless you get lucky enough to get the WHOLE engine and chassis harness? I have a host of B12/ca info as I dealt with boost_boy though NismoDriver (Big John) sold me his sr20-B12 mounts set so I am going GTi-R to B12 though any info I have your welcomed to [email protected] or hit me here?

Yeah, got most of what you listed covered. I still need: starter, 27-spline axles, and the damn harness! I did a carb to EFI conversion(5.0L Mustang) on a Jeep Wrangler several years ago, so I know the drill on the fuel system, adapting the engine harness to the existing wiring, etc. Thanks for your offer of help. I might get stuck on something and give you a holler. If you happen to know of a CA18DET harness floating around, PM me! I need one!!

For swapping in the LSD, I have no idea. How similar are the transmissions for a FWD VG30 or VE30 to a CA18? As for swapping a CA18DE(T) into a B12, it should not be the slightest bit difficult. Since the 1987-1988 Nissan Pulsar NX SE KN13 (same engine bay as B12) came with a CA18DE; all you need is a donor vehicle. You will need: ECU, engine wiring harness, engine, transmission, hydraulic clutch reservoir, hydraulic clutch master cylinder, hydraulic clutch slave cylinder, engine mounts (should be the same, but just in case they are not), half-shafts, CV axles, and hubs. In terms of a CA18DET (formerly RWD application), just modify the DET harness into the DE harness, and use a FWD transmission. You will need to make room for the turbo manifold and turbo, as well as the intercooler. I also forgot about the fuel pump; you will need a better one, for sure. Perhaps a Walbro? They seem to be quite easy to install in B12-B14s.
