so I just did a 5 speed swap in my s14 and I used a s13 transmission. I went to put my DS on but it won't fit. SOmebody on 240sxofurms (Luketownsend) told me to take the metal ring out of the extension housing to allow the DS to fit. This is what I'm talking about:

what do u guys think? Has anyone here heard of taking that out for it to fit right.

How hard is it to do it? Why don't ya give it a shot if that's your only choice right now. Looking at the FSM, you can take that piece off just before where the shifter sits. Worse comes to worse you can get that piece from a s14 at a junkyard and swap those parts. Also, it looks like the "dust cover" on the end of the transmission is what's preventing the DS from going in. You might be able to just swap those parts? Wish I could help man. Good luck.

dude, you are RIGHT on the $. lol. I actually did give it a shot before I posted and the yoke was rubbing against that dust cover and a bunch of smoke started coming from that area b/c of the friction. So I did exactly what u said and now everyhting works. And I guess I'm gonna get the dust cover from an s14 too. Thanks a lot!!!

You could always just trim part of the dust cover off with a saw. Just enough to where the driveshaft fits and spins without rubbing.
