driveshaft trouble

hey so im not sure if anyones had this problem or not before, but im using my stock driveshaft and putting in a sr20 motor. the motor came with a hard plastic like spacer at the end of the transmission right where the drive shaft hooks up to. when i use that spacer, the driveshaft roller in the middle of the car isnt lined, and if i take the spacer out and put the driveshaft all the way in, its too close and doesnt line up again. Im wondering if i can cut the spacer to proper length to make it line up, and if theres a problem with oil leakage or a seal on the drive shaft if it isnt pressed into the transmission all the way? Im kind of lost on it so if anyone can help, and ill send pics if needed.. thanks!

It shouldn't leak if it isn't in all the way. Long as input shaft isn't playing cliff hanger you should be fine.
