driveshaft too short

hey guys i have a 90 240sx that use to have an sohc i swapped in a dohc from a 95 s14, i got the drive shaft off the diff so i could slide it into the trans but when i did so there is a fingers width of spacewhere the spline goes into the trans..is this supposed to happen or am i doing something wrong? need help asap!

Did you swap transmissions? S13/S14 have different dust shields on the back of the transmission and that could be the difference.

Also which driveshaft are you using?

its the s14 transmission and the driveshaft is just the stock 90 driveshaft...but everywhere i look says it should fit fine

Probably the S14 dust shield has been removed, making it look shorter.

Only way it should be actually shorter is if you were using an ABS DS on a Non-ABS Diff.

Thanks man.. just looked at my old transmission and its got the dust boot so ina put it on the s14 transmission
