driveshaft????

ok my car makes a weird poppin noise sometimes. someone told me it may be the bushing in the 2 piece drive shaft? how can i tell and where is a good place to get a one piece? oh and is it a stock s14 driveshaft in my rb20 swap? thanks

Where is the popping sound from and when is it making the sound? During shifting? During deceleration? When you hit a bump? When you turn? You can usually find a link to a place that makes one piece drive shafts on here. One of the advertisements I saw last night was for a driveshaft place.

it usually happens when you let out of the clutch. or if i grab 2nd hard and spin it does it then alot.

Subframe bushings, loose diff bolts, trans mount, or worn U-Joints on the shaft would be my guess.

well the guy i bought it from said it was subframe bushings. but then someone else said driveshaft. is there anyway to look and tell?

Yeah, get the car in the air and check under it. Try to wiggle the diff, then try lifting the sub-frame up and do and see if it moves, also tr rotating the DS and see if there is a lot of back and forth play

when i changed the oil the other day i looked at the ds and it had some play in it and when i moved the first half the back half didnt move. is that normal or what?

Play is normal, about 1/8 inch of play.

ok well then i'm not so sure its the driveshaft. seeing as the subframe bushings are the cheaper of the 2 i may try that one first
