So I went to the Nissan dealer to check out the new Z hoping to be able to test drive the six speed (they had none). However, I found out that the Z has a carbon-fiber driveshaft!! Since the G35 Coupe has the same basic drivetrain, I'm hoping it also uses carbon fiber. Anyone know for sure?

Yes, they are CF as well. I'm very interested to know how they join the metal end fittings to the CF tube while maintaining the weight advantage and without the tube fatiguing and cracking.

EDIT: I replied after seeing a website stating the G35's have the CF, but I can't find anything else to substantiate it. I'll step back to my corner and let an actual G35 owner confirm or deny.

yep :)it's CF.

the joints are done by molding the CF and aluminum alloy mesh arround the hub of the joint.

I'm pretty sure it's NOT carbon fiber. G35 coupe has longer wheelbase and thus different driveshaft.

Greg_atlanta,

The G35 does have a longer wheelbase than the 350Z, however, it still has a carbon fiber driveshaft. Double check your manual.

yep, in the manual it clearly states "Light weight Carbon fiber Driveshaft based on racing designs used in Japan"
