How often do you service driveshaft slip yoke? It feels like the driveshaft has a slack when starting from dead stop... I've heard that the slip yoke is binding and needs to be lubed. Does anyone have similar problem? Suggestions?

it should be getting lubed by the fluid in the transmission and generally doesn't need servicing unless the seal is leaking.

There's always a little slack - most of it is lash in the ring and pinion gears in the rear end. The slip yoke goes onto a splined shaft and should have very little wiggle, but you can check it by unbolting the driveline from the rear axle and twisting by hand.

It's a two piece driveshaft, and slip yoke is in between the two pieces... there is no trans fluid in there. Some people says that it needs to be re-greased once in a while. I am getting a slack or thump when I press on gas from complete start.

Ah. Is this a D22 Frontier or a 2005+? If it's an early one, swap in a 2001-2004 single piece driveshaft and get rid of the carrier bearing.

It is 2005+, two piece driveshaft. I also heard traction bars would solve the problem, but nobody knows for sure. Every time I press on gas pedal, there is a slack or bump.

2010 4x4 Pro. Same symptoms when putting her into drive. Later developed a clicking noise I could hear at very slow speed. It was the front drive shaft. Got a new one manufactured by TRW. One piece. Problems solved.
