driveshaft querstion

ok so i have a 93 nissan d21 hardbody.. im swapping into it a ka24det which is slightly built with what i believe is a s13 transmission. i have two questions idk the answer to. will my driveshaft yoke fit into the transmission and how do you know if i have a s13 or s14 trans? thanks any help will greatly apreciated :gotme

I doubt the yoke would fit, but you can try. I would assume the length of DS would be different as well. Given you're putting this much into it, I'd order a 1-piece alum DS from a sponsor, they should be able to do custom length if needed.

For S13 vs S14, easiest way would be to see if there is a CAS hole in the top of the bellhousing right at the motor, if there is a hole S14, if not S13. Though either will work and is almost the same length (S14 has a goldish metal dust cover pressed into the tailshaft, that can be removed easily if needed).

Looking at the service manuals, the KA equipped hardbody uses the same transmission as the 240s. So I would assume that the spline count on your D21 driveshaft should work.

That is assuming the d21 was 5 speed though.

I'm also assuming he ran the SOHC KA originally as well. The VG model had a different trans.

yes my ka is a five speed and so is the one goin in it. my truck does have a sohc so i figured since it is a s13 trans it would be much difference since they ran the single cam in those to

Like I said, comparing the transes in the FSMs leads me to believe you should be ok.
