Driveshaft problems

Car: 90 Nissan 240sx

Ok, heres the problem I have two driveshafts and they will only side in about a inch. One is a auto and the other is a manual. The auto and manual look the same so I went back to the junk yard and they gave me another driveshaft that supposed to be a manual. On the inside of both of them they have notches then a small gap that sits right across from each other. What should I do?

spin the drive shaft while pushing it in to the trany and it will eventually line up and go in and thats it
