Got to take my project around the block for the first time after extensive rework. Getting a bad rubbing/vibration type noise. I couldn't locate it exactly, seemed definitely not passenger rear wheel, but I couldn't distinguish well between the diff, drivers wheel and the driveshaft. Girlfriend got under car, and I was also able to spin wheel faster, and she pointed up to effectively where the carrier bearing is, and was pretty confident. She doesn't know the mechanics of the car well, so she didn't just pic the carrier bearing as a common failure point. I hear it down at the diff too, but it would make sense that a vibration is transferring from the shaft to the diff/axle.
Problem is my carrier bearing is in great shape, I know, it was just off the car. Im pretty sure its mounted correctly if this picture is correct:
Typically when people talk about DS noise, they say it happens at speed. This literally reproduces when turning the wheel at any speed by hand.
Some other fun background: replaced all subframe, diff and suspension arm pieces with ES poly. I'm using a TT 5spd front half with a replaced mating piece and a NA 5spd back half to my now NA diff.
Ideas? I've seen people say try rotating the DS 90 deg, but this would only seem to fix balance issues at speed, this is all the time.
