Does anyone know how to get around the cutting of the driveshaft that has to be done in the swapping in of an rb25det into a 96 240sx?:help

Try changing the yoke on the 240 for the NT 300zx yoke.

I heard that you have to do that anyway in addition to the 1/2" shaving of the driveshaft.

There's no way around it. The transmission from the RB is longer than the KA. So you're going to need a shorter drive shaft. The best option is probably to go w/a single piece shaft.

Night and Mckinney Motorsports both sell the driveshafts for the RB25 swap.

I have heard the same thing about the rb20. That transmission is the same length as the KA transmission. This is what I heard, I dont have personal experience with it though.

Rb20 transmission is a Ka transmission, just different output flanges (can't think of the correct term) for connection up to the engine. You will be able to use your ka driveshaft with the rb20/

so whats gonna need to be modified from the KA one?

what is this output flange exactly that you're talking about?

RB20 transmission is not the exact same as the KA transmission.

Well, would the rb20 transmission bolt up to the rb25 engine?

why would one want to bolt up a rb20 transmission up to the rb25? they're both RWD and the rb25 transmission is quite a bit stronger from what I hear...it can hold up to 500hp or something like that compared to the 400hp of the rb20det i heard...

it would make sence to swap the rb25 to the rb26dett but why would you want to swap the rb25 and rb20 trannies?

because no driveshaft modification would be need with the rb20 trans.

to address the trannie statement of being the same as teh KA. the rb20 and ka transmission has the same output shafts but different bell housings. dust covers are diffent lengths and no driveline mod. if you need i have the comparison picks. i cant speak on the rb25 cause i dont have one nor do i have an fsm for the final output ratios between the two but as soon as i do i'll post it

dc it's not worth the time to try and find a driveshaft from an existing RB engine... yo basically have 3 choices

1) Get the RB25 driveshaft shortened and customized to spec2) Get a full custom job, the the entrie drivshaft made to spec3) Use a KA driveshaft with modification for the RB engine

Those are basically your 3 options...

If i'm wrong someone correct me...

I think customzing the ka driveshaft would be the best choice. But in doing this I would need a 300zx yolk. Thanks everyone for the input. :):):)

replace the yoke with the 3Z? which motor are you refering to? I heard that its the case with the rb25 but what about the rb20?

if it was the rb20, then can't i just re-lengthen the ka to make the rb20 work?

can anyone give me more info on the rb20 so i'll know what more to expect for this summer's swap?

I wasn't aware you needed to change the yolk at all assuming the custom shaft engine connected properly...

My mistake, I haven't been looking at the drivetrain as much as the actually engine schematics lately, I'd like to thank Meggala for all the useful info on his site... :)

The S14 driveshaft is longer than the S13 by about 2" in overlength.
