Trying to put the SR driveshaft into my newly swapped 240. However, I can't get the damn thing into the transmission splines more than an inch, maybe and inch and a half. The FSM is again no help as it merely states to "install driveshaft into transmission"

Thanks.... I figured that much.

Anyone have suggestions? How did you do it?

Edit: I noticed that the splines on the transmission run all the way around the shaft, but there are two splines missing from the inside of the driveshaft yoke. Do these need to be mated up in some specific manner in order to slide this thing all the way on? This is frustrating. I can build a motor, but getting a driveshaft in is what gives me the most trouble? sweet f-ing christ!

Most of the time drive shafts are keyed. My GM to nissan one is. Get a flashlight and look into the trans.

You've probably got the right one already but I'm gonna ask which dust collar do you have on the transmission, the KA or a SR one? Just throwing out ideas.

it's the SR transmission out of my front clip so I'm assuming it's the SR dust collar. I didn't replace it so I imagine it's the Sr one

EDIT: I should also mention that the driveshaft isn't even touching the dust collar right now.it wont go far enough in

You know when I am mating a trans to an engine I always have the GF or a friend rotate the crank pulley while trying to mate it up. You could try putting it into gear (i'd say a higher gear like 5th so it doesn't spin very fast) and work it in there... I'd jack the rear wheels up though just as a safety precaution.

The SR dust collar is that fat f****r, you'll need to take it off and get a KA dust collar or cut the SR dust collar.Look how thick that thing is. Your driveshaft is missing by at least a inch due to the thickness of this dust collar. I think the difference has something to do with the USDM and JDM driveshaft's being different somehow?!?!

Any luck on getting that driveshaft installed? Do you indeed have a SR dust collar?
