Quick noob question. In all the guides Ive read, they got one sentance saying "unbolt driveshaft". Well, Im finding that its less simple that that in the fact that I cant get the damn thing off for nothing. The only thing still holding in my KA is the driveshaft. The bolts in the back even with WD40 will not turn, at least with my wrench because I cant get a rachet to fit on either side of it. Anyone have any advice on a better tool to use or how to get it off in general?

yea, the shaft will fall out of the transmission side cuz its just a splined sleeve. if you're keeping the driveshaft you might as well leave it on in the back.

Yea, I was going to do that. But the thing is I got my McKinney driveshaft sitting in the garage, so even if I pull the motor out without disconnectiong it, it will still have to come off eventually.

if you only have a few bolts left, just cut it off with a wheel cutter...

link 2 wrenches together- they'll come outtorque off the nuts- not the bolt end.

The nut will move but not the bolt on the drive shaft to diff. just link 2 wrenches and get that puppy off. Make sure your going the right way too.

yea.. i would suggest a long metal pipe if you can get it in there. VERY useful. took out my head bolts easily w/ one attached to the end of my ratchet.

if the metal pipe wont fit you can try using a rubber mallet kto hit the end of the wrench with. ive used this almost as much as my cheater bar.

Thats what Ill probably try since the car isnt very high off the ground. Guy that had it before me cut the springs so it sits looooooow, even when it is on ramps.

what stage off the swap are you in.?? If you have not taken out the engine and transmission do soo..

jack the car higher.. put it on stands.. make sure2 feet off the ground.. Unbolt all the bolts on drive shaft..from front to back.. so that you can turn and move the driveshaft, so you can fit the nuts and bolts on there.. so you can use the extended pipe to wrench it out..

I did the swap myself and I went through the same stuff you did..
