After driving my new s14 for a few days, i'm starting to notice a hesitation in the rear left driveshaft. It's a 1995 240sx Std. 5speed with 116,500 miles. Whenever I push in the clutch with 2-3k revs, there's a slight hold or stall in the rear accompanied by a "kachunk" noise (not that noticeable). I took it to a local import mechanic and he told me it could be "...slack in the driveshaft..." This doesn't really make that much sense to me, but i'm open to anything. It doesn't impair my driving, but i was wondering if it could cause more problems in the future.

thanks for any help.

can you shift normally before and after the "kachunk" noise? only happens when using the clutch?

it may be slop in the differential, if it does it when you hit the gas, then again when you let off. the way to check is put the transmission in gear (any one will work) and get under the car, turn the drive shaft and see how far you can move it. some play is normal, but it may be ecessive in your case

It only makes the noise/shudder when i push in the clutch at around 3000+ rpm. If it is "slop" in the driveshaft, is it serious, and what can i do about it? thanks.
