Ok, so when I unbolted my driveshaft originally, it was REALLY on there tight, and I had the smooth idea of cutting the rubber damper that connects the driveshaft to the transmission so that I could get a better angle on the bolts. In short, that didn't work and I now lack the damper. (I get stupid when I'm frustrated sometimes )

So anyway, I was wondering, just how important is that piece? If I was to have my local machinist make an adapter for me, how would that change the characteristics of the car? Would I be looking at an unbearable stiffness and possibly damage to the transmission / driveshaft or would it just give better feedback and possibly make for a more consistant feel?

http://www.enjukuracing.com actually makes an aluminum driveshaft that eliminates the dampener and is all one peice instead of two. much lighter and not detriement to longeviety.

F'ing important. no damper means that your car is going to shake violently after like 10 mph. I had my swap done at a shop and they lost that part. but now I have a 1 piece enjuku one. good upgrade with a lightened flywheel

I can't understand why that would happen... Wouldn't that only happen if something was off balance or alignment? If the Aluminum driveshafts get rid of the dampers why can't an adapter be made to work with the stock driveshaft. I am thinking of a 1 piece eventually by the way, but I just don't have the money right now.

Because the stock drive shaft is 2 pieces and will flop around on you.

Either hit up the junkyard and get another bracket or drop some cheddar on the Enjuku piece.

I hate driveshafts.... they are such a pain in the ace to put back in the transmission sometimes... grrrr

Hmm... I wonder, are we talking about the same piece here? The part I'm referring to is bolted to the floating connection on the transmission, and then through that, it's bolted to the driveshaft. I don't mean the bracket that holds the bearing on the driveshaft.

At any rate, I think I'm going to hold off on a new driveshaft, because I'm looking to do a CF driveshaft down the road. I've seen them go from 7-900 dollars. I figure it's worth that price for highly reduced rotating mass and also the brooming effect just in case something were to happen to the driveshaft.

Thanks again for the input .
