I have a 93 240, has the stock KA24DE in it and I was wanting to swap a RB20 into it. If I bought a motor along with a transmission, what kind of drive shaft and differential would I need?

You will have to get a custom shaft made for your project. More than likely the same path as doing an rb25 swap.....the rb transmission output to the 240 diff. input. If you didn't already catch it, you can keep your current diff, just install a good lsd.

After reading that, I'm leading you to believe that you can mate the two oem parts together, when I really mean just use them for reference when getting your new shaft(aluminum)

Yes actually there are a few that make them, you just have to know whom to call on. If memory serves correctly, this should be a good starthttp://mckinneymotorsports.com/
