My airbag light started to blink friday night so I took it into Nissan just before they closed and they said they would take a look at it but it might not be under warranty because I have aftermarket stereo equipment and alarm. They said they'd call me saturday night but never did. So if its not covered under warranty I have to pay 35 a day for the rental which is really nice. Its the base model sentra with the CVT in it. And I like the way it handles overall. Dont get me wrong I like my V an all but the sentras are really nice. Anyways we'll see how it goes but I think it will be under warranty cause why would any place splice into the airbag wiring for an alarm or stereo??? Has anyone else had this problem at all? My V just barely hit 15k miles.

since were talking about the Airbags, my Passenger side airbag light flashes when i turn on the car and then it goes out, but no one is sitting on the seat, when I push my hand on the seat it goes on again, why does it activate the passenger airbag when no one is on it.

The airbag isnt activated when nobody is sitting in the seat. When you press your hand on the seat it senses that something is on the seat but not heavy enough to activate the airbag...so the light goes on.

They wouldn't have spliced into it. However, depending on the experience level of the tech who installed your stereo, they may have DISCONNECTED the air bag sensor light.

This is a big no-no, and requires resetting the system.

So, if that is the case, make a copy of your service invoice and take it back to the stereo shop. Demand a refund of the amount you had to pay the dealer for their tech's incompetence.

But the stereo was installed 4 months ago...I should have specified a little better im sorry. I was at a friends house and when i went to go leave, I started it up, all the lights came on like normal and the airbag light started to blink. Nothing was done to the car in the mean time and everything that I have in it was installed over 4 months ago.

Well, the dealship called. They said it was just the sensor light that was tripped, the airbag worked all along it was just the light! And they are pinning it on the place that installed my stereo and alarm but heres the funny thing and i will fight it...those were done over 4 months ago . They are going to try to make me pay $115 for the diagnostic. But they said they went over the rest of the car's computer to see if anything was wrong and everything checked good so they reset it and now its working fine. Any tips or suggestions to help me fight it?

I'd start by bringing your receipt for the stereo installation to prove to them that it was 4 months ago. If it was the stereo shop that did it, the problem would have occurred immediately.

Well when I went to go pick it up, me and the service guy were talking about everything in regards to having the alarm and stereo put in 4 months ago and how if it was them that tripped it, it would have gone off immediatly. So I called the audio shop and they talked to the service guy and once they got off the phone, the service guy called the tech. that looked at my car. The tech. was pretty sure someone tampered with the sensor and so he wanted the diagnostic fee to be paid. But the service guy saw my side of the story and cut me a break so I didnt pay the $115 diagnostic fee. However I did have to pay for the rental which was just above $100. They didnt even ask for reciepts for the stereo and alarm...I guess just talking to my buddy over at the audio place was enough for him.

Thats exactly what they said they did to fix it

Have you ran into that problem before?

I have one of the very early '07 HBs sold (picked it up on Labor Day 2006). Your comments sparked my memory. Look up the NHTSA Campaign ID 01V09400. It addressed a factory damaged seat belt tension sensor harness connector in the 2007 Versa. Mine didn't act up, but Nissan replaced it when I took the car in for service.
