since you had the door panel off check to make sure you didnt unplug the window motor or window amp on the driver side. they are both vital for the window to roll up/down.

well i checked the connections and everything is fine and when i go to make it go down i hear a small sound like its attempting to but nothing happens. Could the motor be fried on it?

If you hear a sound then the motor is working, maybe just replace the window amp from a junkyard. This same thing is happening to me. My drivers side window goes down sometime or I have to hit the button many times for it to move. I yanked a window amp from the junkyard but I haven't swapped it in yet.
