My 2008 has done the same thing since NEW! I took it in to the dealer while under warranty, and all they did was the "lube trick" mentioned earlier. It seemed to have worked for the rest of last winter, now we'll see if it still works OK. Of course now it is out of warranty. At least we have a work order showing that it wasn't working properly while it was still under warranty.
I really get tired of dealerships acting like "your the only one that has had this problem", when you go on the internet and find that a lot of others are experiencing the same thing.
It almost has to be a "design issue". Why would it only affect the driver's window, not only on my Versa, but on the others as well? I never hear of someone saying the passenger window is sluggish. My guess is that it has something to do with a voltage drop due to the auto-up and auto-down features.
BTW, I just posted about fixing my rear window defroster. A few others are experiencing the same failure of that switch, that I did.
I used to like VW's, and worked my way thru college as a VW mechanic (mid 70's). VW lost their way for many years, but had a chance to reinvent themselves and get customers to take a second look at them with the introduction of the New Beetle (show up to drive the Beetle, take home a Jetta). Instead, everyone soon learned the New Beetle had electrical problems out the wazoo, and the dealerships were unwilling or unable to fix them. It all can be traced back to the execution of the complex electrical system by the factories in Mexico. Does anyone else see a similarity here? I thought our Versa's were made in Mexico, and they could have the same vendor as VW supplying the electrical components.
