About a month after I purchased my 03 sedan my drivers seat began squeaking. When I give it gas or when I brake enough to shift my weight forward and back the seat squeaks. Also during hard cornering, it will squeak when my weight transfers against the bolsters.

I told the dealer and they replaced the seat track for me under warranty about a week and a half ago. Yesterday it started up again. To me it sounds like the springs inside of the seats are the root of the noise. Has anyone run into this? It is quite annoying, and it occurs very frequently...is there a fairly simple way for me to lubricate the springs inside of the seat? Or is this something that I should have the dealer fix?

Other than the seat, the car has been free of rattles or other cabin noises.

Thanks.

My '03 coupe does the same thing - it drives me freakin nuts. I'm going to take it into the dealer in a few weeks and see if I can get a whole new seat.

Let me know if they will do that for you, I would love to have the whole seat replaced.

Anyone else here have this problem or have had their seat swapped out?

funny thing on my 03 sedan. when i first got it it squeeked also and i thought it was the seat. when i accelerate, it would make the noise, and when i stop as well. it turned out that it wasnt the seat, but the headliner. the dealer had to drop it and reinsullate it to stop the noise, and onto this day, it stopped.

In my case it is definately the seat. It's nice to know that you were able to locate the problem and the dealer took care of for you.

I am coming off of years of owning VW's where service was the last thing on their minds... (though I still own a VW, it is 25 years old)

Not that this is anyone's problem, but I have noticed that the seat belt arm sometimes can rub on the top of the seat and cause a squeek which is incessently annoying. Just tweeking the seat position will get rid of it.

I hate that! Are the 06+ seat belts any better?

Mine is definately not the seatbelt.

I have an appointment to drop off my car at the dealer tomorrow, hopefully they can fix it.

I will let you guys know what the issue was when I get it back.

I have an 03 6MT coupe with about 28K miles. I've noticed a grinding noise in both seats when you move them fwd or back, especially when someone is sitting in them. I have two kids so our seats get alot of use for them to get in and out of the car at least twice a day. Any similar complaints or info is appreciated.

I have 70k miles on mine. I had the rocking seat syndrome until the seat finally broke. Dealer was unable to fix it satisfactorily. I finally fixed it myself the other day.

The squeaking started almost immediately. I went back and took the entire seat apart again and greased everything underneath. I put light grease around all mating surfaces and locktited the nuts. Squeak went away.

This is not an easy task. It takes 1.5 hours to take the seat all the way apart, grease it and put it back together. You run the risk of tearing leather and if you don't wait at least 3 minutes after disconnecting BOTH battery cables you could also trigger your airbag.
