Hey guys,

So my drivers seat won't move forward or backwards. However it moves up and down etc. Could this be an electrical issue? Any ideas?

Also, i noticed it feels a little loser whenever i accelerate. Could that be the seat needs to be tightened? Has anyone experienced this issue?

If the seat is moving around when braking or accelerating, you may have a track issue. This may or may not affect other operations. I know on the Y50's, the dealer had to replace the seat track for that issue...

Also when I push the forward or back button to move the seat I hear a click but the seat doesn't move...

I had it done under warranty, but I hear it's quite pricey. Best bet is to check with your dealer.

Ok cool. My closer dealer here is such a rip off! I might have to try another Infiniti dealer close by

Hullo,
I had a similar problem but with the steering wheel not automatically shifting up or down when switching off or on, but with the seat repositioning itself ok.
What it was, it seems, was the wheel adjustment, being a worm drive ran to the end, jammed and wouldn't return[had a similar problem with my Jeep heater control].
With a lot of fiddling with the switch on the side of the column I got it to work ok.
Anyway to get around the problem I turned off the automatic seat/wheel positioning and just use the seat switch or the positioning control on the door arm rest.
Hope this is of use.

Considering that the motor seems to be fine, based on the clicking I would try this:

Look under the seat and see if you can locate the froward.backward motor (should look like a silver cylinder). Take a hammer and give it a few taps. Not as hard as if you were driving in a nail, but hard enough to hurt ones finger if you'd miss :). if the seat moves after tapping you have the drive shaft gear issue.

This is a very common problem in early maximas/ i30s and i35s, there's a chance early M's were sharing same parts.

Let us know.

Awesome! Thanks for the suggestion… ill give it a shot and let you know. I know exactly what you talking about. I poked under the seat and saw that thinking umm that could be the issue cause when i pushed the seat forward button, i heard the clicking sound from the cylinder.

Anyways ill try it tonight and let you know.
