I just had this happen, put my key in the door to unlock and the key goes a full 360. I was surprised and of course the lock doesn't unlock. So I jump in the passenger side and unlock it. Go home pull the panel off and WTF? the plastic ring that clips into this is broken. O.K. so I should expect little **** like this to happen. So I go to the Nissan shop and the guy gives me a blown up diagram and tells me he doesn't know which one I need. WTF you work here and you don't know. Then he shows me the diagram and I can see the pics aren't that good. So I pull the part out of my pocket and he says he still doesn't know. I convince him to let me talk to a Tech, and the tech is pointing in the same area but isn't sure which part it is either. It's a small clear o-ring type thing with a white clip that is held in by an C-type clip and it pushes the rod that unlocks the door. After this he charges me 23.00 for this and says it will be a few days before it gets in. I go home and try to southern engineer it. No luck, I cannot get the door lock off. I see the 10MM screw on one side but cannot get my hands around the other side to feel another. how do I get this part back on? And yes I did Super Glue it and tape it and try to make it work in the mean time. But no luck so I'm contemplating buying a keyless alarm and forgetting about trying to get this clip back on or putting it in the shop and letting these guys fix it for $800.00. I know it won't be that much but I'm sure they aren't going to tell me it only took 5 mins and your charge is 20 bucks. Sorry for the long post but I thought it was hellafunny the freakin Nissan parts guy doesn't know which one it is and neither does the tech. Gives me ALOT of confidence in them if I decide to leave it with them. So $200.00 for keyless enrty alarm or let the experts fix it for about the same amount maybe alittle less? Any help, tricks, or diagrams is VERY APPRECIATED.

so it's the little plastic rod retainer taht broke or fell off? you can get a pack of them at autozone in the help section for 5 or 6 nucks, I save a few from various parts cars, they tend to be white or green, it's a 2 minute job once the door panel is off, pulling the handle isn't necesarry, the handle is a huge pita to wrangle off, just take your time and pay attention and use a swivel 10mm and you can pull it but again not needed

no it wasn't the white plastic piece that holds the rod, that piece is o.k. It was the O-ring type plastic connector that goes around the cylinder and turns when you turn the key. It has 2 grooves in it that keep it in place and is held in by a C type push on clip. The white rod holder attaches to this and is in good shape but the other part isnt. i'm still questioning why the tech and the part salesman doesn't know what the part was even though I had it in my hand and showed them it and they have a blown up copy of it. But I can say the diagram sucked from the program they use that shows how it goes together. The only way I see this part going on without being a real ***** is to pull the handle off and the only view I can get of the whole assembly is thru the little hole right infront of it that is covered by a grey plastic plug.

the key/tumbeler assy is held in with one 10 mm nut IIRC, which you can remove without pulling the handle out, and I could swear the "lock cam" or whatever the correct term is was made of metal? been a while since I had mine apart, as for the dealer, the fieche tends to be pretty low res when dealing with some of these parts so I understand the problem with figuring out just which part number is the part you need
