Hey everyone,

Thanks for having me in the group! I just bought a 2007 Infiniti G35x sedan AWD.

I’ve never owned an Infiniti before but it’s crazy how far ahead of its time this car was for a 2007 with navigation and the options it has. It’s fun to drive but I’m working out some quirks and have found this page along with the factory service manual so helpful.

Anyways, I’ve been fixing things as I go and I noticed on a cold day my drivers side was blowing cold air and the passenger side was blowing out hot air. It has the dual climate control so I thought maybe there was an issue there. Took the assembly apart and found that the drivers air mix actuator was just dangling and not functioning. So somebody has messed with it previously. Replaced it with the same part number because it does not respond to anything when I change modes or temperature. Still nothing. Called the dealership and they gave me a different part number, did some research and turns out yep. Indeed I had the wrong part number, ordered the correct one plugged it in. Nothing. Fuses are all good. No other electrical issues, I was reading a lot about the white ac amp box above the radio going bad and I’m thinking MAYBE that’s the problem but I wanted to do a continuity test to see if the wire is broken somewhere. I ordered a complete harness replacement with actuators off eBay cheap and I noticed they basically are 3 wire light green data cables almost and the connectors have teeth that bite into the wire but they are all wired in a circuit which goes to this male plug where I assume it plugs into a module or plug I’m just not seeing anywhere. Then on the other side there’s the drivers plug on its own. I tried following the wire and it goes up into the dash into the heater box itself. Even with the radio and navigation out I cannot see that wire anywhere. I’ve looked through any and all manuals I could find and either I’m looking in the wrong place or just am blind. Does anybody have any ideas on where I can find the spot that plugs into so I can plug this other harness in and if it still doesn’t work then I know it’s a module or something else going on. Hope someone will know, cheers!

Getting no response from one actuator almost has to be a wiring or wrong-parts issue. The actuators are together on a "bus" with common power, ground, and communications wires. They all have the same three connections to the bus, so if one works then they should all work. The IDC (insulation displacement) connectors used in the HVAC harness can fail, so that's a definite possibility. The best diagnostic approach is to compare the signals at the non-working actuator with one that does. If you're getting the same voltages at all three pins then it pretty much rules out wiring and you know there's a problem with the actuator itself.
