Driver turns up to police station to pay traffic ticket with 137 origami dollar bill PIGS . . . and cops make him unfold every one

A man arrived at a municipal court this week and attempted to pay a $137 traffic violation ticket with 137 origami pigs fashioned with dollar bills and boxed in two Dunkin Donut trays.

A city clerk refused to accept his creative payment method however, and forced him to unfold each every one of his painstakingly made creations.

The unidentified man, who goes by the name of Bacon Mouse on YouTube, posted a recording of the exchange and explained his motives in a description of the video.

Although it ultimately failed, it was both amusing and clever. Nice find. :dblthumb:

It sucks they made him unfold them. There's no law that the money has to be unfolded. Legal tender for all debts public and private b****.

I concur. I mean, had he just left the money there, he would technically be in the right. If the clerk failed to document the fine as paid, he would have been punished for failing to do his job. They guy had already spent enough time and energy folding the bills, might as well gone balls to wall and told the clerk "no", he had fulfilled his legal obligation and deposited the money necessary to pay the fine. I would have taken a picture of the money being at the clerk's office and left. If the fine defaulted, he would have had photographic evidence that he had paid the fine.

"Sir, we cannot accept these because we have no way of storing them."

More irritating than unwrapping oragami pigs is presenting a pastry-less Dunkin Donuts box in front of a cop :chuckle:

I absolutely love this.

I agree with the "all debts public and private" thing. Most clerks I've seen in a traffic court aren't doing s*** 99% of the time anyway. f*** em.

It's not his burden of proof to show that they're legal tender notes. That's all on them. All he has to do is claim they are, they have to take them.
