Hey,

I have searched the forums to see if anyone else had this problem but all I seem to find are different window issues (stopping half way, don't work at all, etc...) than what I have. About a year ago my driver side window would start going down crooked. When I say crooked I mean the back half of the window would dip down first before the front half or vice versa and it would almost sound like the window would break. If I wanted to roll the window up I would have to guide the window up by hand while pressing up on the window switch. Any idea on how I can fix this? Is my "guide" off? Any diagrams or how much it would cost? Thanks for your help in advance!

edit-- my car is a 96 240sx automatic

I would say check the FSM for your model. Pull the door panel and a take a look at what is going on with the regulator. If you have an FSM to lead you through it's not too difficult. If the regulator is the problem I think you can pick one from the dealer between $150 - $200. Wrecking yard, not sure.

I just swapped regulators in my drivers side manual window. Mine's an S13 so I hope they are similar. I'm also going to assume they are similar manual to power. Take the door skin off first then the plastic sheet. The window is bolted onto the regulator bracket in four places, two on each side. with the window nearly all the way down you should see the 4 (10mm?) nuts that hold the window on to the track guides. I'm guessing one side maybe loose or has come undone. Check the 4 12mm nuts that hold the regulator bracket to the door, maybe those are loose. There are also stops at the top of the door that are adjustable by loosening the 10mm nuts and sliding them up or down a bit, but these are for adjusting final "window up" positioning to get a good seal on the gaskets. Hope this helps.

With out seeing as ESD and 4 said check the regulator. When they go out they sound pretty gnarly.
