My driver side seat (in my brand new G37xS) is loose so you can feel the seat move a little when you coming to a stop from a hard brake. I can also notice the seat move if I jiggle it while I'm at a stop. I verified that the passenger side doesn't do the same thing.

I know I can probably take the car to the shop and have them do it but I'd really like to bypass them.

Does anyone have a manual on how to remove the seat? If not I guess I'll have Infiniti fix it when in for an oil change. I just don't want them saying "oh we're sorry but the seat was designed to do this." Very similar to what they said about the transmission and that it was designed to hard down shift from 2nd to 1st.

Any help would be appreciated.

Jim

Do you mean the rail that the seat slides on or it's connected loosely to the floor?

If it's the latter, you could probably tighten the bolts down yourself.

I wouldn't know about the seats being loose on the rails. Does the seat move properly through it's full range on that specific control (forward and back)? Maybe the gears of the motor aren't seated properly?

(I'm no expert on power seats, so take what I'm saying with a grain of salt.)

The seat is bolted properly and securely to the floor; just verified.

It also moves properly through all ranges front, back, up and down.

I'll have to take the plastic cover off to see more detail but I'd like a manual if possible.

Thanks,

Jim

I have the same thing in my '08 G37s coupe AND my '07 G35s. I've been meaning to check it out, just haven't yet.

I've decided I'm dropping it off at the dealer to have it looked at while I'm in for my first oil change.

They better not say it's designed to do this because that would be ridiculous.

Funny thing is I had a '99 J30T that had the same problem.

Dropped my car off to the dealer today for an oil change and picked it up with an interesting outlook on things concerning the seat being loose.

The service guy said that he's reproduced the problem and that the Seat Riser Assembly needs to be replaced. So if this problem gets resolved that's fine, however if they are just guessing on this and it doesn't resolve the problem, I'll have a chance to lemon the car.

I did notice that the loaner had the same exact problem. Not only did the loaner have that issue but I also noticed that it also had the same steering wheel issue as mine. I have the “power everything” steering so it's goes up and down automatically when I get in the car. Once you're in the car ready to drive, you can actually pull down lightly on the steering wheel and feel a little play. My car and the loaner both have the problem. 40 G’s for a car and there’s play in the steering wheel? - come on…

I'm totally convinced that G37's are the junk of Infiniti. In fact, driving the loaner, which smelled like nastiness (totally related to the dealership only because they don't take care of their loaners), with only 13 G's on it, I noticed that the “rattleness” in the car was much more prominent than mine. In fact, not only did the dashboard make sounds but the ceiling of the car made sounds - right where the light is near the sunroof. If you push up on that part of the ceiling, you can replicate the rattling sound that occurs when you go over a bump.

Depending on what happens with the seat in my car, I'm 75% convinced I'll be trading my car in for a Honda (previously owned car). My g37 is half paid off so I'm in good shape.

I don't recommend a G37 to anyone. And to be honest, I don't recommend an Infiniti to anyone. My car only has 3 G's on it and its got problem after problem.

Jimbo

p.s. Infiniti did not have an update for my transmission (which is the sloppiest most unresponsive transmission known to man) concerning the hard downshifting from 2nd to 1st.

I don't mean to be negative in all of my posts but I've been having nothing but bad luck with this car.

Sorry All.

my grandfather has always owned Fords - whether it be a Ford, Merc, Lincoln, he always had great luck with them. He traded his Lincoln for a Cadillac and had nothing but problems. I think drivers have a gene that connects them with a auto manufacturer.

You dont have the infiniti gene.

I am on my first Infiniti. Its my first "highline" car, or at least what I consider to be a highline. Being only 27, i think ive done pretty well for myself in my purchase. My lifestyle is no longer condusive to me owning a truck, which is what i owned for most of my driving-life. i am not certain i would stick with infiniti in the future. there are some things that really bother me. quality of the paint (easily scratched) and quality of interior accessories.

i would like to give BMW and AUDI a try next.

I would really reconsider on both the Audi and BMW. My father has owned 2 BMW's and has had nothing but problems with them and he's also owned an Audi and had nothing but problems with that as well.

If you edmonds.com both manufacturers you'll find that both have poor consumer reviews.

I believe Honda is the best manufacturer when it comes to cars and Acura would of course be top notch when it comes to quality.

I bet it was a TSX. Those are lame.

You have to stick with at least a TL. They're sick. Very sturdy and good quality.

RL's are sweet too. TSX's are lame. More of a womans car.

it was an RSX Type R. I agree the TL/RL is a very nice car.
